The sketch opposite shows a typical basic application where the DPM62VA is being used to monitor the voltage and current in a simple circuit. The use of a calibrated shunt allows current measurement to be taken to greater accuracies than with a bought in shunt. The shunt is rated to the maximum current in the circuit initially and then cut to a size where the current range chosen can be accurately monitored.
Shunt maximum current rating is limited to a choice of the following maximum currents <50, 75, 100, 130 and 175A.
The maximum supply voltage to the instrument is 28volts as shown. The maximum voltage which can be measured with this simple circuit is 35volts.
